AMEREX Class D Metal Fire Extinguishers

A Class D fire extinguisher is used on combustible metals, such as magnesium, titanium, sodium, etc., which require an extinguishing medium that does not react with the burning metal.

These EXTINGUISHERS are pressurised using ARGON. Argon is an inert gas that will not react with combustible metals. We have a 15-20 days lead time on those.

AMEREX Class D METAL, HOW DOES IT WORK?

Class D METAL Extinguishers contain a special blended Sodium Chloride-based dry powder extinguishing agent (B570), this solution smothers the fire and removes the element of heat. Heat from the fire causes it to cake and form a crust excluding air and dissipating heat from burning metal. C571 contains a copper extinguishing agent.

WHAT IS A Class D METAL EXTINGUISHER USED FOR?

Class D METAL extinguishers are efficient against metal fires involving magnesium, sodium, potassium, sodium-potassium alloys, zirconium, uranium, titanium, and powdered aluminum, the C571 is designed to extinguish lithium and lithium alloy fires (Not recommended for lithium-ion battery fires).
