FIRE HOSE REEL, HOW DOES IT WORK?

A high quality fire hose, on an easy to operate hose reel will improve your chance to start a quick fire defence. It is designed to be used as a quick-response method by any member of the general public for fighting fires in their early stages.

Fire Hose reels consist of a length of non-kinking tubing which typically come in 36 or 50m lengths (quality PVC, polyester, PU coating and percolated materials). Unlike water fire extinguishers, Fire hose reels are permanently connected to a main supply which provides an endless supply of water or foam. They include a turn on/off valve, a hose guide, and a hose with a nozzle.

WHAT IS A FIRE HOSE REEL USED FOR?

Red Fire Hose Reels are suitable for Class A fires, for example: Recycling bins, Carpeting, Furniture, Paper, Textiles, Wood, Most Plastics and Rubber.

Blue Fire Hose Reel Foam are suitable for Class A fires and Class B fires (flammable liquids: such as petrol, turpentine or paint).

FIRE HOSE REEL SERVICE & MAINTENANCE

In a business environment, All Fire Hose Reels require inspection & testing every 6 months in accordance with Australian Standards and must carry a maintenance tag that shows their last inspection date. This testing ensures that the hose reel is operational in the event of a fire emergency.

FIRE HOSE REEL DO NOT USE ON:

Do NOT use on electrical fires! Water conducts electricity, so using a water fire hose reel on it could lead to electrocution! Fire hose reels are also not intended for use on the below kinds of fires:

• Class B Fires: Fires involving combustible liquids like petrol, oil paint and solvents - except Foam Fire Hose Reel
• Class C Fires: Fires involving combustible gases like LPG, Natural gas and acetylene
• Class D Fires: Fires involving combustible metals like aluminium shaving or magnesium
• Class E Fires: Fires where the ignition source contains electrical equipment such as motors, switchboards and electrical appliances
• Class F Fires: Fires involving cooking oils and fats.
