HOW TO USE EV FIRE BLANKET

Step 1: Call Fire Brigade
Ensure the blanket is sized appropriately for the vehicle.
Unroll the fire blanket on the ground in front of or behind the vehicle.
Note: Full PPE and SCBA are highly recommended for electric vehicle fires.
A minimum two-person deployment is needed.
Step 2: The operators should grab each of their handles and safely pull the fire blanket over the car in one continuous movement.
Step 3: Centre the blanket over the vehicle and make sure the blanket is touching the ground on all sides. Step down on areas where the air may flow from under the blanket. In instances where there are high winds, please use weights to prevent the fire blanket blowing out of place or away from the vehicle.

PLEASE NOTE: DO NOT USE FIRE BLANKETS MORE THAN ONCE. IF USED THEY MUST BE DISPOSED OF.
Most Electric Vehicle fires will continue to burn under the blanket until the battery has completely burned out. The fire blanket helps stop the fire from spreading to other vehicles and reduces toxic gases.
